A German politician has caused a stir after proposing that orgies be held at city hall as part of an unconventional plan to promote his city as a destination for nudists and swingers.
Julian Ferrat, a 35-year-old city councillor in Mannheim and leader of the liberal Die Mannheimer party, is reportedly pushing the idea of turning the German city into a “nudist swinger paradise,” drawing inspiration from the famous naturist resort of Cap d’Agde in France.
Ferrat has also floated the idea of hosting group-sex events at Mannheim City Hall, describing such gatherings as the “ultimate in closeness with the citizens.” The proposal has attracted widespread attention and criticism, particularly over whether a public government building would be an appropriate venue for such activities.
The politician argues that embracing naturism and adult tourism could bring economic benefits to Mannheim by attracting visitors and generating additional tourism revenue. His campaign has therefore combined his advocacy for nudism with an unconventional approach to urban tourism.
However, the proposal faces significant hurdles. Mannheim officials have reportedly raised doubts about whether such events would be legally permissible or practically feasible, meaning Ferrat's provocative vision is far from becoming reality.
Despite the controversy, Ferrat's comments have generated considerable public attention, putting his unusual political agenda—and his ambition to turn Mannheim into a hub for naturists and swingers—firmly in the spotlight.
