Researchers claim they've found charred wood that could be from Noah's Ark — buried nearly 30 feet deep inside the boat-shaped Durupınar Formation, 18 miles south of Mount Ararat in Turkey. The team from Noah's Ark Scans said they drilled core samples and found both burned and unburned wood deep underground. Project head Andrew Jones said it could be "the charred remains of Noah's Ark," but admitted it could also be an old shepherd's campfire. The find is getting attention because the Bible says Noah coated the Ark in flammable pitch, and radar scans show three layers below ground — matching the Bible's description of three decks. Wood and soil samples have been sent for lab testing to confirm their age. Results are expected in December. Previous studies say the formation is natural, made by landslides. Scientists say more testing is needed before calling it the Ark.
