A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Argentina after his 10-year-old stepdaughter was found to be six months pregnant during a hospital examination, with the child allegedly identifying him as the person responsible for sexual abuse. According to local media reports, the girl was taken to a hospital in Colonia Dora, in Santiago del Estero Province, after complaining of severe stomach pain. Doctors discovered that she was in an advanced stage of pregnancy after her mother reportedly told medical staff that the child had not yet started menstruating. During subsequent investigations, the girl allegedly identified her stepfather, named in reports as Julio Vivas, as the person responsible for the abuse. Prosecutor Guillermo Farías ordered the suspect's arrest, with police apprehending him at a rural property in El Bracho, where he reportedly lived with the child's mother and the girl. Officers also seized his mobile phone as part of the investigation, while authorities continued collecting evidence and statements to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, and reports indicate that the case has not yet resulted in a final determination of criminal responsibility. The girl's grandmother, Norma Gómez, told local broadcaster Noticiero 7 that she had previously warned her daughter to be cautious about the man, whom she reportedly met online. The child's teacher also expressed shock over the allegations, saying she had not noticed unusual behaviour or signs of distress at school. Authorities have not publicly disclosed further details about the child's medical condition, while her identity remains withheld to protect her privacy.
