Police Rescue Abducted British National as Deputy IG Kayira Is Shot British national Nusrat Jiwa Osman, 47, who was abducted in Mount Pleasant, Blantyre, has been rescued safely after a police operation. Minister of Homeland Security Peter Mukhito has confirmed that Deputy Inspector General of Police Noel Kayira is receiving treatment at a hospital in Blantyre after being shot during an exchange of fire with suspected abductors in Chadzunda. Mukhito said Osman was rescued by police officers led by Kayira, while the suspected abductors are now in police custody. Osman’s brother, Shobi Jiwa, also confirmed that she is safe and thanked Kayira for his bravery during the operation. Police had earlier offered a K30 million reward for information leading to Osman’s rescue and the arrest of those responsible.
