Tennis legend Serena Williams has confirmed her return to professional tennis, ending a nearly four-year absence from competitive play.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion will compete in the women's doubles event at the Queen's Club Championships in London from June 8-14 after receiving a wildcard entry. Reports indicate she is expected to partner rising Canadian star Victoria Mboko.

Williams, now 44, has not played a professional match since the 2022 US Open. She announced her comeback this week, describing the tournament as the perfect place to begin the "next chapter" of her career.

The tournament serves as a key warm-up event for Wimbledon Championships, where Williams is a seven-time singles champion, fueling speculation that she could also make an appearance at the year's third Grand Slam later this month.

Her return has generated excitement across the tennis world, with players, officials and fans welcoming back one of the sport's most influential figures.

Williams is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in tennis history, having won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and four Olympic gold medals.
