Federico Valverde has dismissed reports of a dressing-room altercation with teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni, insisting his recent hospital visit was caused by an accidental fall.
The Real Madrid midfielder clarified on Friday that he “accidentally hit a table” at home, suffering a minor head injury that required precautionary medical attention.
Speculation had emerged in Spanish media suggesting Valverde and Tchouameni were involved in a heated clash during training ahead of this weekend’s crucial El Clásico showdown against FC Barcelona.
However, sources close to the club reportedly played down the rumours, with Valverde’s explanation appearing to put an end to the controversy.
Despite the scare, the Uruguayan international is still expected to be available for selection as Madrid prepare for one of the season’s biggest fixtures.
