Zonyera Zambuzi Unveiled as New Kachindamoto

Sixty-one-year-old Enoch Zonyera Zambuzi Kalapino has been officially unveiled by the Kachindamoto clan as the heir to their royal throne, which fell vacant following the death of Theresa Kachindamoto in August this year. The late Theresa, who had reigned since 2003, was widely respected for her strong leadership and her commitment to social reforms within her community.

Zonyera is the son of Abraham, an elder brother to the late Theresa’s biological father. This succession marks the return of the chieftaincy to the eldest of the three Kachindamoto families, in line with Maseko Ngoni tradition, which dictates rotational leadership among the families.

During the official presentation held at his Nkosini in Lizulu, Ntcheu, Ngwenyama Inkosi Ya Makhosi Gomani V received Zonyera and commended the clan for maintaining their cultural order. He also urged the Kachindamoto clan to organise the coronation ceremony, which he will personally preside over, before the end of the year.

With his unveiling, Enoch Zonyera Zambuzi Kalapino becomes the new torchbearer of the Kachindamoto legacy, as the royal family and the Maseko Ngoni community prepare to celebrate the continuity of their proud heritage.
