Women’s Legal Resource Centre(WOLREC) has been recognised by the Malawi Government as the best Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) in Community Empowerment at the NGO Day Award ceremony held in Mzuzu yesterday.
WOLREC has been awarded the recognition award following its outstanding amd unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment that continues to shape national discourse and policy.

Widely recognised for its impactful contributions to women’s rights, legal aid and economic empowerment across Malawi, WOLREC remains at the forefront of social change.
Commenting on the recognition award, WOLREC’s Executive Director, Maggie Kathewera Banda said that the award goes beyond being a mere trophy but rather it is an image of resilience, innovation and collective effort.

This award is more than a trophy. It is a reflection of resilience, innovation and collective effort. It demonstrates that when communities, leaders, organizations and partners unite towards a common vision, transformation becomes possible.

Recently, WOLREC launched the Gender Observatory and Tracker with support from United Kingdom through Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). The tracker is an important tool in highlighting achievements ans identifying loopholes in the fight against gender inequality and women empowerment.
