Are you a recent law graduate with strong digital skills and a passion for legal research?
PLOG is looking for two Digital Legal Research Assistants to join our dynamic, research-driven team on a fixed-term engagement. This is a unique opportunity to work on a project aimed at digitizing and enhancing access to Malawian legal resources.
About PLOG
PLOG is a Blantyre-based research entity dedicated to building accessible digital tools for Malawian law. Our goal is to structure and share primary legal materials with the public in a user-friendly digital format.
Key Responsibilities
As a Digital Legal Research Assistant, your role will include:
- Uploading and tagging legal documents (Acts, judgments, tribunal decisions).
- Archiving outdated or superseded materials.
- Assisting in refining digital data structures with developers.
- Carrying out regular content management and digital housekeeping tasks.
This is a full-time, remote-first position, with necessary tools provided.
Contract Details
- Duration: 6 months (with possible extension based on funding and performance).
- Monthly stipend available to support living and internet expenses (please note: this is a project-based stipend, not a salary).
- Engagement is through a services agreement (no employee benefits).
Eligibility Criteria
We encourage applications from individuals who:
- Hold a Diploma in Law from a recognized Malawian institution.
- Possess a certified MSCE certificate.
- Are not currently in full-time employment.
- Are proficient in digital file management and computer software.
- Can work independently and meet weekly targets with minimal supervision.
Recent graduates are especially encouraged to apply.
