TRUMP AND MUSK BROMANCE IS OVER: BILLIONS, BITTERNESS AND BROKEN PROMISES

By Mikozi Buzz | International Desk | June 5, 2025

The once-unshakable alliance between former U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk has officially imploded — and this time, the gloves are off.

What began as a strategic partnership between politics and tech has turned into a messy, public fallout filled with bitter words, broken trust, and bruised egos.

From Allies to Enemies

In 2024, Elon Musk shocked many when he endorsed Donald Trump’s campaign and even took on a key advisory role in the administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Their partnership was once celebrated as the perfect mix of business brains and populist power.

Fast forward to mid-2025, and the bromance has hit the wall.

“One Big Beautiful Bill” Breaks the Bond

The collapse came after Trump pushed a $1.6 trillion spending bill — dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Musk furiously objected to the bill, claiming it scraps crucial electric vehicle tax credits while continuing to fund oil and gas industries.

“This bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk posted on X. “It rewards pollution, punishes innovation, and shows how broken the system is.”

Musk didn’t stop there — he also announced his resignation from his government role, citing growing ideological differences and “a lack of vision for the future.”

Trump: “I’m Disappointed in Elon”

In a reaction on Truth Social, Trump didn’t hold back. He said, “I’m disappointed in Elon.” The former president claimed that Musk was “all-in” when it suited him, but turned on the administration the moment he didn’t get his way.

“Elon is suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump wrote. “He’s mad about EV mandates being removed. We had a great relationship — not sure we will anymore.”

Musk Fires Back: “I Won. Not Him.”

Never one to stay quiet, Musk returned fire. “I won — not him,” he wrote in a cryptic post, implying that his global influence and tech empire now far outweigh any political leader’s legacy. He added, “The people follow innovation — not outdated politics.”

A Transactional Relationship, Now in Ruins

Behind the scenes, insiders say the relationship was never based on genuine trust — just mutual interest. “It was always a deal, not a friendship,” one Washington insider told Mikozi Buzz. “And when the deal stopped benefiting Elon, he walked.”

Fallout and Future Impact

With Musk distancing himself from Trump and Trump branding Musk as disloyal, the political-tech alliance that once symbolized a new kind of American power is over.

For Trump, it’s a blow to his narrative of being the business-savvy president. For Musk, it may be a smart long-term pivot as he attempts to keep Tesla, SpaceX, and X politically neutral in global markets.

But one thing is clear — the bromance is dead, and both men are walking away with bruises.
