TECH-SAVY THIEVES SWIPE PHONES AND LAPTOPS LEAVING THE STUDENTS IN A DIGITAL DILEMA

In the early hours of today at DMI Saint John’s, the Baptist University Lilongwe Campus armed robbers broke into DMI University’s girls’ hostels and went away with the student’s phones, money and laptops.

The robbers were armed with Guns and Panga knives and broke into the hostels around 3 a.m. Responding on the issue, The Malawi Police Service reported that they have arrested 2 people on suspicion that they are the perpetrators that broke into the girl’s hostel. Furthermore, the Malawi Police Service has promised to beef up security in higher learning institutions in light of the armed robbery at DMI Saint John, the Baptist University. This is not the first robbery in high learning institutions in Malawi, previously the University of Malawi, the Polytechnic was also frequent victim of such attacks in Blantyre
