What started as an exciting Chris Brown concert has ended in a hilarious new wave of mockery aimed at blessers across Malawi. While some lucky Malawian ladies flaunted their front-row tickets and glamorous outfits in South Africa, others were left questioning their choices in financial sponsors after their blessers failed to deliver.
“I thought I was dating an A-list blesser, but now I see he’s just a Zidya Makanda!” said one disappointed woman, using the trending insult that translates to “infant eater” in Chichewa, implying stinginess or inadequacy.
Social media exploded with memes and TikToks featuring women rolling their eyes at their blessers, accusing them of failing to fund “basic” needs like an international concert trip.
One viral post read: “How do you call yourself a blesser when all you can afford is nyama ya nkhuku and Mzuzu trips? Please, sit down with your Zidya Makanda vibes!”
Meanwhile, some blessers are defending themselves. A frustrated sponsor named Mr. Bigman Banda told reporters, “I am a blesser, not a bank! These ladies think we grow money on trees.”
Others, however, are reportedly stepping up their game. Sources confirm that at least three blessers have offered post-concert shopping trips to Sandton as an apology for failing to fund tickets.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear—Chris Brown’s music isn’t the only thing making waves. The fallout has exposed just how high the stakes (and expectations) are in the blesser economy.
When asked for comment, one attendee simply said, “Next time, I’ll find myself a real blesser. Maybe one who can sponsor Coachella!”
