Senegal has declared today a national holiday following their dramatic triumph over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final, sparking nationwide celebrations. The Lions of Teranga edged past the host nation in a tense final decided in extra time, sealing a historic victory that sent fans into jubilation across the country.
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced the public holiday to honor the team’s achievement and allow citizens to celebrate the continental success. Streets in Dakar and other major cities were flooded with singing, dancing, and flag-waving supporters as Senegal claimed their second AFCON title.
