A man has been exposed for allegedly disguising himself as his deceased mother in order to fraudulently collect her pension worth $61,000 per year.
According to investigators, the man regularly dressed in women’s clothing and appeared in public pretending to be his late mother, who had passed away years earlier. The elaborate deception reportedly allowed him to continue receiving pension payments that should have stopped after her death.
Authorities say the scheme unraveled after officials noticed inconsistencies during routine verification checks, raising suspicions about the pension recipient’s identity. Further investigations confirmed the mother had died, leading to the man’s arrest.
He is now facing serious fraud-related charges, with prosecutors describing the case as a “calculated and sustained deception” that cost the state tens of thousands of dollars annually.
