Some Malawians have been left agape following the World Economics Business Insider report which has ranked Malawi as the 7th best governed country in out of 10 countries in Africa, boasting a grade C and an index of 52.9 with corruption levels of 37.8 while Mauritius tops the list, boasting a grade B and an Index of 69.3.This comes under the leadership of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and as Malawi is in a continuous economic turmoil; with the Malawi Kwacha continuously depreciating, prices of goods on rise daily, massive unemployment, but also hunger and poverty in most parts of Malawi among many other challenges.According to the report, the cornerstone of effective governance lies in embracing principles such as transparency, accountability, inclusivity as well as adherence to the rule of law. Furthermore, it states that the evaluation of governance follows through indicators such as corruption perception, rule of law, press freedom and political rights.A Malawi angoti okay, what an achievement.
