Ebo Noah, the self-styled Ghanaian prophet who made headlines over a failed doomsday prophecy, has opened up about his time in police custody following his arrest.
The controversial figure was picked up by police after his widely publicised prediction that a catastrophic flood would strike on Christmas Day failed to materialise, a claim that had sparked fear and intense public debate across social media and beyond.
Speaking after being granted bail, Ebo Noah recounted the harsh realities of life in police cells, describing the experience as difficult but eye-opening. According to him, conditions were uncomfortable and far from what many people imagine, with detainees forced to adapt to limited space and basic facilities.
He used humour to paint a picture of daily life behind bars, saying inmates “sit like monkeys in the morning and sleep like fish at night,” a comment that quickly went viral online.
Despite the challenges, Ebo Noah suggested the period in custody gave him time to reflect on his actions and the impact of his prophecy on the public. He acknowledged that the experience was not one he would wish on anyone, even as he tried to downplay the ordeal with jokes and light-hearted remarks during his recount.
His case is still before the court, with further hearings expected in the coming months, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the prophecy and its consequences. Meanwhile, Ebo Noah’s arrest and candid account of life in police cells have reignited conversations about accountability, freedom of expression and the influence of religious figures in the age of social media.
