“I Lost Touch With Reality” — Kanye West Apologises for Antisemitic Remarks, Cites Mental Health Struggles

Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has issued a public apology for his past antisemitic comments, admitting that the remarks were made during a period of serious mental health struggles. In his statement, the rapper acknowledged that his words caused deep pain and offence, particularly to the Jewish community, and said he takes full responsibility for the harm done.

He explained that at the time of the controversial comments, he was dealing with intense psychological challenges linked to bipolar disorder, which affected his judgment and behaviour. Kanye said he experienced manic episodes during which he lost touch with reality, leading him to say and do things he now deeply regrets. He was careful to note that while mental illness may explain his actions, it does not excuse them.

Kanye added that he is now focused on treatment, self-reflection and personal growth, including therapy and medical care. He expressed a desire to move forward with greater awareness and accountability, saying he hopes to rebuild trust over time through consistent actions and positive change rather than apologies alone.
