The Eastern Region Police Headquarters has organised a football match at Chinkwezule Ground in Machinga to raise awareness on the need to conserve and re-plant trees that have been depleted in Zomba and Machinga.
The teams have collaborated with communities in Chinkwezule village under Traditional Authority Nkula of Machinga and Sub-Traditional Authority Nkapita of Zomba in an attempt to save Zomba Mountain and Zomba-Malosa Forest Reserve.
The two teams, Machinga-based Akwao FC and Eastern Region Police FC, are currently playing.
Before the match, Traditional Authority Nkula and Sub-Traditional Authority Mtumbwinda planted eleven trees to represent solidarity between the two districts.
