One of Malawi’s most competitive female artists, Emmie Deebo, has given fans a deeper look into the inspiration behind her latest album, First Born, which will be out this June
In a Facebook post shared on her page, Emmie Deebo explained that First Born represents leadership and resilience in the face of challenges.
Reflecting on the album’s meaning, she wrote:
“Firstborns are born to lead—to pave the way, overcome challenges, and take the hits so those who follow can rise.”
The 2024 MBC Entertainers of the Year Music Award winner and nominee for the prestigious East Africa Entertainment Awards also took the opportunity to assert her dominance in the industry.
“I am the epitome of greatness, the benchmark of excellence. Superstars are measured against me for elevation. I’m breaking barriers, rewriting the rules, and setting the stage on fire.”
The Chilipo hitmaker described her success as a turning point for female artists in Malawi, calling it a revolution.
“Who ever thought female artists in Malawi could compete at this level? You’re witnessing history in the making. Welcome to the DEEBO REVOLUTION.”
So far in 2025, Emmie Deebo has released two singles, Mtima and Akumbutseni, both of which are receiving significant airplay on local TV and radio stations.
She is set to kick off her 2025 performances with a tour in South Africa, organized by Big Girls Entertainment, where she will share the stage with Saint, Onesimus and Eli Njuchi.
