Blantyre, 19 October 2024 – Ecobank Malawi, part of the pan-African Ecobank Group, has donated MK35.5 million to Madziabango Primary School in support of the government’s Building Education Foundations through Innovation & Technology (BEFIT) program. The donation includes 107 AI-enabled tablets, a 7.5Kwh solar power installation, Wi-Fi equipment, desks, and the painting of a school block.
The initiative, part of Ecobank Day 2024 under the theme “Ignite Learning with AI,” aims to improve literacy and digital skills among primary school students. Ecobank Malawi staff led a digital literacy session, showcasing how AI and digital tools can enhance education.
Weluzani Chingota, Executive Director of Ecobank Malawi, highlighted the importance of using AI to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that even underserved communities have access to quality education. The Secretary for Education praised the initiative for expanding access to interactive, personalized learning.
Ecobank Day Ambassador Temwa delivered a motivational talk, inspiring students to embrace technology as a key to their future success. This event underscores Ecobank’s commitment to advancing education in Malawi through technology and innovation.
