Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi has been sworn in as Malawi’s 7th vice president following his appointment yesterday as the new vice president after Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima who passed away in a plane crash along with 8 others.
The inauguration of the vice president happened today at the Malawi Parliament in the presence of the President, Judges, traditional leaders and members of parliament.
Dr Michael Usi said in his acceptance speech that he is comforted for being the second citizen and at the same time sad due to the realisation that former VP Dr Saulos Chilima is no longer alive.
Furthermore, Dr. Usi said he has seen God’s comfort in the way he has made Malawians come together in the time when the nation lost the Vice-President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima.
He expressed profound gratitude to the late Chilima for believing in him to be vice-president of UTM party and for President Lazarus Chakwera for sharing in that belief for first appointing him as Cabinet Minister and now for honouring the late Chilima, by appointing him as his replacement.
He expressed his gratitude to his party, UTM and pledged to do his best to build the party.
“Thanks for your support during the time I was vice-president of our party. I will do my best to build our party.”
