Prominent Malawian preacher Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has accused the South African media of bias, claiming they sidelined his record-breaking Crossover Night prayers while celebrating Chris Brown’s recent concert at FNB Stadium, which drew 94,000 fans.
Bushiri, who says his annual events consistently attracted 110,000 attendees for four consecutive years, criticized the media for labeling his followers as “brainwashed” while praising Brown’s fans as “entertained.”
“They are trying to enthrone Chris Brown and dethrone the gospel,” Bushiri said, warning of a cultural shift in South Africa that marginalizes religious gatherings in favor of secular events.
The preacher’s remarks have ignited debates online, with some supporting his claims and others questioning the comparison between entertainment and religious events.
