Chelsea has emerged victorious against the expendable Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup finals. The men in blue have gone against all odds thrashing PSG with 3 goals to nil adding the Club World Cup silverware to their trophy haul.
Chelsea’s goal came on the 22nd minute of the match from Cole Palmer who produced a shot from outside the box and scored into the bottom left corner. He scored his second goal 8 minutes after, making it 2 nil by the 30th minute of the game.
Cole Palmer’s effort in the 43rd minute of the game provided Chelsea’s third goal as he assisted the newly signed Joao Pedro who scored the third, making it 3 nil by half-time.
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea victory today has killed PSG’s hopes of becoming the first ever team to win a septuple in a single season. However, they can hope to join Bayern Munich and Barcelona in holding the record of winning a sextuple achieved in 2020 and 2009.
The North London blues have had a fair season, managing to qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, crowned the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League champions and now lifting the Club World Cup to emerge as the best football club in the world.
Throughout the competition, Chelsea maintained their composure and have only lost a single match out of the 6 matches before reaching the Club World Cup final. They have scored a total of 14 goals and conceded 5 goals. Nevertheless, Stamford Bridge is brimming with fireworks and the sky is burning blue as celebrations are underway.
