The state has requested two courts in the capital city, Lilongwe to keep politician-cum-actor Bon Kalindo on remand at Maula Prison to allow it to conclude investigations on two different cases that the state is accusing him of. Malawian Kwacha is expected to depreciate further until it reaches the spread between the formal and informal market exchange rates according to the Economist Intelligence Unit(EIU), a research and analysis division of the Economist Group. Following its analysis quoted in the Nico Asset Managers Monthly Economic Report for February, the firm states that bi-monthly exchange rate auctions the Reserve Bank of Malawi(RBM) holds with authorized dealer banks will gradually shift towards a market-led exchange rate. In the early hours of today at DMI Saint John’s, the Baptist University Lilongwe Campus armed robbers broke into DMI University’s girls’ hostels and went away with the student’s phones, money and laptops.
