British actor and comedian Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court in London. The 51-year-old was convicted on Thursday following a four-week trial involving allegations brought by six women. Brand had faced seven charges, including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted indecent assault. However, the jury acquitted him of two rape charges and the attempted indecent assault charge. He had denied all the allegations, maintaining that his sexual encounters with the women were consensual. The offences for which he was convicted relate to incidents between 2004 and 2009, according to London's Metropolitan Police. Brand will be sentenced on Monday, November 9, at Southwark Crown Court. The Metropolitan Police said its investigation involved more than 100 witnesses, over 400 witness statements and a review of more than 1,400 documents. The investigation began after allegations involving Brand were reported by media outlets, including Channel 4's Dispatches and The Times, in September 2023.
