Peter Greene, the veteran character actor known for his chilling villain roles in films such as Pulp Fiction and The Mask, has died at the age of 60. Greene was found dead in his Lower East Side apartment in New York City on December 12, 2025, his longtime manager Gregg Edwards confirmed.
Greene rose to prominence in the early 1990s and became widely recognized for portraying notorious antagonists. He delivered memorable performances as the brutal Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994) and as mob boss Dorian Tyrell in The Mask (1994), starring opposite Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz.
According to reports, Greene was born on October 8, 1965, in Montclair, New Jersey. He began his acting career in the early 1990s with roles in Laws of Gravity (1992) and Clean, Shaven (1993), before earning critical praise for his intense screen presence.
Over his three-decade career, he appeared in a host of films and television series, including The Usual Suspects, Blue Streak, Training Day, The Black Donnellys, Life on Mars, and The Continental.
His manager, Gregg Edwards, described Greene as not only a powerful performer but also a kind, generous person with “a heart as big as gold,” and said Greene was loved by colleagues and friends alike. Edwards confirmed the cause of death has not yet been released and is pending medical examination.
At the time of his passing, Greene was reportedly working on two upcoming projects — an independent film titled Mascots, and a documentary called From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID.
Greene’s unique ability to portray complex, villainous characters made him a standout in Hollywood’s character actor ranks. He is survived by his sister and brother.
