He explained that at the time of the controversial comments, he was dealing with intense psychological challenges linked to bipolar disorder, which affected his judgment and behaviour. Kanye said he experienced manic episodes during which he lost touch with reality, leading him to say and do things he now deeply regrets. He was careful to note that while mental illness may explain his actions, it does not excuse them. Kanye added that he is now focused on treatment, self-reflection and personal growth, including therapy and medical care. He expressed a desire to move forward with greater awareness and accountability, saying he hopes to rebuild trust over time through consistent actions and positive change rather than apologies alone.
