Cameroonian oncologist Dr. Apoline Nkoun has sparked debate after recommending that men engage in at least 13 sexual encounters per month to help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Speaking during a health awareness discussion, Nkoun said regular sexual activity could play a role in maintaining prostate health. Her remarks are in line with scientific studies that have linked frequent ejaculation to a lower risk of prostate cancer. One major study involving nearly 32,000 men found that those who ejaculated more often were less likely to develop the disease.

However, health experts caution that sexual activity alone is not a guaranteed method of preventing prostate cancer. They emphasize that regular screening, healthy eating, exercise and routine medical check-ups remain essential in reducing the risk of the disease.
