A viral video trending online has sparked outrage after a man was seen allegedly branding counterfeit televisions with LG logos at Alaba International Market in Lagos.
In the clip, stacks of TV cartons and sets are shown being stamped with the popular electronics brand, with claims that thousands of low-quality televisions were being repackaged to appear as genuine LG products.
The footage quickly triggered public concern and debate, drawing the attention of authorities. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) confirmed it is investigating the incident and tracking those involved in the alleged production and distribution of fake TV sets.
LG Electronics Nigeria also issued a consumer alert, distancing itself from the products in the video and warning that counterfeit TVs pose safety risks and come without warranty or after-sales support.
The incident has reignited conversations around counterfeit electronics in major markets and the need for stricter enforcement, while consumers are being urged to buy only from authorised dealers and verify product details before purchase.
