Malawian artivist, musician, and storyteller Nyokase Madise has announced an ambitious journey called “Walk to Egypt,” a 5-month trek from Malawi to Egypt by foot and hitchhiking, starting July 6, 2025. Inspired by Legson Kayira and Paulo Coelho, Nyokase aims to promote Pan-African pride, youth hope, and mental health awareness. The journey will pass through six African countries and is supported by a GoFundMe campaign for mental health programs in Malawi.
Nyokase, formerly known as Annetti from the award-winning Zathu Band, is an influential figure in civic storytelling, feminism, and youth leadership. She is also the National Coordinator of the Africa Youth Panel, co-founder of GoodTalent, and has worked with various international programs and local organizations. Recently, she released her debut album “Katundu,” celebrating identity and migration.
Through her walk, she hopes to spark a movement for borderless African unity and amplify youth voices across the continent.
