Led by vocalist Jeffrey Thom, the group also featured his two nephews, Saidi and Selemani Yusuf, combining their skills to create an unforgettable musical experience.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck on December 18, 2023, when Jeffrey Thom, the lead vocalist of Fikisa, passed away after a courageous battle with asthma, leaving the group’s future uncertain.
However, unbeknownst to the public, Jeffrey had been grooming his son, Yusuf Thom, to carry on his legacy. Yusuf had been meticulously trained in various aspects of music, including traditional drumming, composition, and vocal techniques, ensuring that Jeffrey’s musical spirit would live on through the next generation.
Yusuf Thom has stepped forward, adopting the nickname ‘Akamwile’ as a tribute to his father, and is now poised to carry on his father’s musical heritage and build upon the legacy he left behind.
