STRUGGLING FCB NYASA BULLETS THRASH MIGHTY MUKURU WANDERERS IN FDH CUP

Blantyre-Malawi. It was an Epic 17th derby match between FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at the Kamuzu Stadium with FCB Nyasa Bullets firing goal after goal into the Wanderers net to seal a tremendous and deserving win against their rivals in the FDH Bank Cup Round of 16 despite their struggling performance in the TNM Super League.

FCB Nyasa Bullets took an early lead against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the FDH Bank Cup Round of 16 through Babatunde Adepoju when Wanderers defence was off guard as Adepoju slotted the ball into the net with only a minute elapsed of the game.

It wasn’t long before Babatunde Adepoju claimed a brace to place FCB Nyasa Bullets in the lead with 2 goals to nil against their rivals.

The goal came from a well coordinated attack when Chikumbutso Salima passed the ball to Adepoju after exchanging passes with Maxwell Phodo before Adepoju fired a fierce shot that went past Wanderers goalie Dalitso Khungwa in the 27th minute.

The rest of the first half minutes were played with intense attacks from both sides with none finding the back of the rivals net.

The second play of the last 45 minutes of the match was messy reaching a point whereby the play has halted as some fans were throwing stone missiles into the game.

The supporters seemed to be not pleased with a decision made by the officiating team and resolved to throwing stones and bottles of water into the pitch.

It was not long before the play was resumed that Mighty Mukuru Wanderers reduces the arrears after finding the back of the FCB Nyasa Bullets net through Timothy Silwimba.

The derby ended 2-1 in favour of the First Capital Bank sponsored Nyasa Big Bullets With Nigerian Babatunde Adepoju emerging as the hero after scoring both goals in the Round of 16 of the FDH Bank Cup.
