City were confirmed as champions for the sixth time in seven seasons upon thrashing West Ham United….
Manchester City have won the English Premier League title for the fourth season in a row after second-placed Arsenal.
City are confirmed as champions for the sixth time in seven seasons tonight upon thrashing West Ham United on 3 goals to 1.
Arsenal, who enjoyed a lead over City as recently as mid-March, needed at least three points and a draw or a defeated for Manchester City’s final to lift the English Premier League and end their EPL title drought of 20 years since winning the title in 2003-2004 season where they were undefeated in all 38 games, winning 26 games and drew 12 games.
While Arsenal threatened to knock City off their perch this season, it all proved an illusion in the end as Pep Guardiola’s side again showed they were relentless in the run-in.
City’s latest title is the sixth in Guardiola’s nine years at the club and owes as much to the club’s end-of-season streak of 12 straight victories as it does to an implosion by Arsenal, just when a first league title since 2004 was in sight.
In the last season, Manchester City enjoyed a treble victory whereby they emerged as winners of EPL title, FA Cup and EUFA Champions League.
At the onset of this season, Manchester City won the Super Cup and emerged as the best Football Club in the world after winning the FIFA Club World Cup final against Brazil’s Fluminense Football Club, thrashing it four goals to nil.
Despite being kicked out of UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid this season, Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to play a derby against their nemesis Manchester United and defend their title as holders of the FA Cup in the finals at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 25 May.
