Old Mutual Blantyre Foundation Trust has come to the rescue of the flood victims in Nkhotakota as it has donated medical supplies to Nkhotakota’s District Council to ease the suffering of that the survivors are facing medically.
Old Mutual Blantyre Foundation Trust through Trustee Brenda Mwale says they have reached out to the council in reponse to reports that the District Health Office is struggling to provide healthcare services to the survivors.
Commenting on the initiative, Nkhotakota District Council acting Disaster Risk Management Officer, George Zibophe hailed the trust for reaching out to them upon their report.
He disclosed that 50 percent of the survivors have returned home but was quick to say those that are stuck in camps still require basic necessities.
On overall, the floods affected over 14, 000 people and claimed six lives.
