Bayern Munich’s Director Max Eberl says he is hoping the German champions do not get a slap in the face when they face Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday. Thomas Tuchel’s side were beaten by lowly-rated Heidenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Bayern are set to travel to London to face Arsenal in the Champions League race, with both sides in contrasting form. The Gunners have been outstanding and unbeaten in the English Premier Leage(EPL) and are currently top of the Premier League, while the Germans, Bayern Munich have been defeated in their last two league matches.
Eberl said the problem he is faced with at the moment is not about firing coaches but avoiding a defeat at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Bayern’s Chief Director said he is not concerned about the search for a new coach and is hoping for a “turnaround” on the pitch as Thomas Tuchel and Bayern have already reached an agreement to part ways at the end of the season.
“At the moment I can’t think of much. We can say: ‘Okay, the injured are coming back’, but that has always been the case at Bayern in the last few months. We haven’t really become stable. It won’t work as easily as saying: Okay, it’s Champions League, Arsenal. Now we have the Champions League game against Arsenal. All respect to Heidenheim, but they are a bit better than Heidenheim in terms of football. In terms of attitude, they have the same level as Heidenheim. There’s a lot coming up.
“I don’t give a sh*t about the search for a coach. Now it’s all about the Arsenal game. We have to make a proper turn-around so that we don’t get a slap to the face.”, he told reporters when asked of the game against Arsenal.
