The state has requested two courts in the capital city, Lilongwe to keep politician-cum-actor Bon Kalindo on remand at Maula Prison to allow it to conclude investigations on two different cases that the state is accusing him of.
Kalindo is being held on allegations that he published false information, a case that is before the Principal Resident Magistrate’s Court and also is suspected of acquiring a firearm without permit, a case that is before the Senior Resident Court in Lilongwe.
Mr. Bon Kalindo was arrested on Tuesday,2nd April in Lilongwe and appeared before Principal Resident Magistrate, Roderick Michongwe yesterday,4th April whereby the State Prosecutor, Louis Makiyi applied to have him remanded for seven days to enable the state secure a gadget that he used to publish false information which is still in his possession but also so as to conclude the investigation.
Despite his lawyers protesting the state’s request, the court has reserved its ruling on the application for bail by his lawyers, Khwima Mchizi and Gilbert Khonyogwa but also the ruling on the application for remand by the state to today.
